congress-candidates

NEW DELHI: The screening committee which was formed to discuss Congress candidates in Kerala, left undecided. The meeting will be held again on March 15. Mullappally Ramachandran, K.C. Venugopal and Oommen Chandy has declared that they are not up for contesting. The dilemma in selecting candidates at several constituencies is the reason for the delay.

The final decision regarding the candidacy of K.C. Venugopal, Mullappally Ramachandran, and Oommen Chandy will be taken by the AICC President Rahul Gandhi. The High Command has asked KPCC working President K. Sudhakaran to contest from Kannur.

If Oommen Chandy is ready to contest, one of Kottayam, Pathanamthitta or Idukki will be considered. Anto Antony, Joseph Vazhakkan and Mathew Kuzhalnadan are the other leaders under consideration for Idukki seat. If V.M. Sudheeran refuses to contest from Alappuzha, Adoor Prakash will be made to contest from there and his proposed seat at Attingal constituency will be given to a youth leader.

If Mullappally is not willing to contest, T. Sidhique and K.M. Abhijith are the forerunners for the Vadakara seat. The final decision whether to field K.V. Thomas at Ernakulam will be taken by Rahul Gandhi. V.J. Poulose and Hibi Eeden are the other names under consideration. T.N. Pratapan and Benny Behanan might get the nod to contest from Thrissur and Chalakkudy.
