KOCHI: Sister Lucy Kalapura has given an explanation at the Franciscan Clarist Congregation (FCC) headquarters for participating in the protest against the Jalandhar Bishop Franco Mulakkal. The meeting with Superior General lasted only five minutes.

Sister Lucy had participated in the protest against Franco Mulakkal for allegedly raping a nun. She had received several notices from the faction authorities for publicly criticizing the stand of the church.

She said that she had explained what she had to. “I firmly believe in my stand. I haven’t talked about other topics”, Sister Lucy said.

Sister Lucy is a member of Wayanad Mananthavadi Karaykkamala Vimala Home. She is also a teacher and has published her own collection of poems. She was criticized for owning a Maruti car, publishing writing in non-Christian publications, participating in protests and for writing Facebook posts thereby violating rules of the Church. In a notice issued there were warning that she will be expelled in the absence of a proper explanation.
