KOCHI: The court has directed former minister K Babu to face trial in the disproportional assets case. The Moovattupuzha Vigilance Court ordered him to face trial after rejecting his deliverance plea. The court found that he possessed disproportionate asset of 49.5% of his known income. The vigilance did not consider the benefits he got as an MLA.
The vigilance alleged that he amassed Rs 28, 82,000 between 2001 and 2018. The case will be considered again on April 29. The court will turn to trial after reading the charge sheet.
Even though Babu argued that he does not possess extra wealth, the court said it can be proved through trial.
