THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thiruvananthapuram native Ananthu was drinking water from a road side tap the other day when he was beaten black and blue for three and a half hours and abducted on a bike. The next day his body was found in a wood near a police station. This was a heinous murder that was committed to settle scores over a minor tussle that happened during a temple festival in the City.

According to the police, the veins in the hands and legs of Anathu (21), a resident of Konchiravila Gireesh Bhavan, were cut and hence the intention of his assaulters might have been to kill him.

It was on Tuesday at around 4 in the evening Ananthu was attacked when he was sitting on his bike near Thaliyal Arasummoodu. They also took away his bike. Though his friends’ made an effort to contact him over phone, it failed; they grew suspicious when they saw his bike discarded near a two-wheeler showroom near Kaimanam Karamana. Soon they lodged a complaint with the police station.

It was in the investigation conducted thereafter, Ananthu’s body was found on Tuesday near the police station.
