THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a warning to vary of severe heat in the state till Monday. There are chances for an abnormal increase of three degrees in heat at Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Thrissur and Kannur districts. Kerala Disaster Management has also issued a warning.

The government has issued an order declaring sunstroke and sunburns as state disaster on direction suggestion from the State Disaster Management Authority.

Families of those who die from sunstroke and sunburns will receive Rs. 4 lakhs. Those who have suffered 40 to 50 percent damage to vision will be eligible for Rs 59,100 and those who lost over 60 percent of vision will receive Rs 2 lakhs. People hospitalized for one week for severe injuries will be eligible for Rs 12,700. The government will also provide compensation for loss of cattle and other animals.
