KASARGOD: Local Congress leaders have come out in protest against making Rajmohan Unnithan the Kasargod candidate. He was declared the candidate only the other day and a strong resentment is brewing against him at regional level.

A section of Congress leaders has also expressed their willingness to resign following Unnithan’s entry. DCC secretary Adv Govindan said that 18 persons would relinquish their posts in the party and resign from the party. But this is in protest against denying seat to Subbayya Rai, who was excluded from Lok Sabha contest for straining his relationship with the district leadership. District Congress Committee secretary also clarified that Subayya Rai will resign as KPCC member as a mark of protest.

A section of party workers' demand is to field leaders from district. They may meet today and decide on registration other actions.

As the situation has worsened within the party, the Congress leadership has started moves to resolve the issues within the party. It will hold meetings with protesting leaders and they have also been instructed to withdraw from the protests.

Meanwhile, the DCC leadership officially announced that nobody had informed them about their resentment or plan to resign. Raj Mohan Unnithan wll reach Kasargod tomoorow to kick off his election campaign.
