THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Though Congress candidate list has become the center of attention following the declaration of K Muraleedharan as a candidate in Vadakara. However, the differences of opinion between various groups within the party have intensified. Congress I group has lost Wayanad seat and this had resulted in resentment among party workers. However, they see K Muraleedharan's candidacy in Vadakara as an answer to that. However, A Group and Oomman Chandy are happy that they were able to get some seats where they have a chance for winning.
Wayanad constituency was represented by I group member M I Shanavas for the last ten years. Therefore, I group members are not happy with Sidhique's candidacy in Vadakara. I group also had to surrender Idukki seat.
When Hibi Eden was selected as the candidate in Ernakulam, A group put pressure for fielding Sidhique in Wayanad. Ernakulam was high command quota following Karunakaran's departure from UDF.
