THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: State Finance Minister Thomas Isaac has said attachments of properties over defaulted agricultural loans will not be carried out in the State till July.
The government had issued an order on October 11, declaring moratorium on sequestration of procedures in order to help farmers who were reeling under the post-flood situation. This will expire on July.
On March 5, the Cabinet decided to extend the moratorium till December after being informed that certain banks had already started sequestration procedures.
The very next day a meeting of bank representatives were called and the bank had accepted the direction in principle. They also wrote to bank administrative panel and the Reserve bank for permission for this.
But the allegation is that no new order was issued after cabinet decision. Isacc said the new order was not issued as moratorium had been in effect and sequestration could not be initiated just because of that and it was merely a technicality.
