NEW DELHI: It has been hinted that a consensus has reached on the list of BJP candidates facing Lok Sabha polls at the central election panel meet of the party held in New Delhi. Detailed discussions were held on the list of candidates.

The party hopes to secure a win in Pathanamthitta where the BJP had unleashed violence in the name of religion. Most of the party members were keen in contesting from Pathanamthitta. This led to a lot of infighting within the party and as a result the announcement got delayed.

It is heard that the meet has directed state party chief P S Sreedharan Pillai not to contest polls. This has shocked the state leadership and the allies.

The meet was convened in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and national party chief Amit Shah. Amit Shah who intervened as per the directive of the RSS said Pillai need not contest. So with this, the chances are more for state general secretary K Surendran to contest from Pathanamthitta.

P K Krishnadas and M T Ramesh will be excluded from the list. Shoba Surendran who had informed that she is not keen in contesting will be fielded in Attingal. Tom Vadakkan will be fielded in Ernakulam and A N Radhakrishnan in Chalakudy. Thushar Vellappally will be fielded in Thrissur.

Apart from Sreedharan Pillai, Surendran and M T Ramesh, Union Minister Alphons Kannanthanam came for the Pathanamthitta seat. Surendran is of the stand that if Pathanamthitta or Thrissur not given, he will be out from the fray.
