NEW DELHI: The BJP Wednesday finalised its seat-sharing deal with the BDJS and Kerala Congress in the southern state for the Lok Sabha polls, party leaders said.
The BJP will field candidates in 14 seats in Kerala, while the Bharath Dharma Jana Sena or BDJS will contest in five seats and PC Thomas-led Kerala Congress will fight in one, said Muralidhar Rao, national general secretary of the BJP. Central committee member P K Krishnadas and BDJS state chief Thushar Vellappally at the press meet convened at the BJP headquarters in Delhi. Satya Kumar in charge of polls in Kerala also attended the press meet.
P K Krishnadas said the NDA will be able to create miracles in Kerala. NDA representatives from Kerala will be there in the Parliament this time. Nine MLAs from Kerala are contesting polls this time. They should resign their posts and face polls. BJP and BDJS are like Ram Lakshman. There are no disputes in the party in connection with the selection of candidates, he added.
Meantime, Thushar Vellappally said that he has not decided to contest polls. Discussions on selection of candidates have just completed. A decision will be taken after holding talks with the BDJS leadership in Kerala. If needed will resign SNDP membership. BDJS should not be seen as B-Team of SNDP. All sections are included in the party, he added
Sources said former Mizoram Governor Kummanam Rajasekharan is likely to be BJP's candidate from Thiruvananthapuram against Congress' Shashi Tharoor.
The BJP-led NDA is getting support from all sections of society in the state, Rao said.
Kerala has 20 Lok Sabha seats and the state will vote on April 23.
