PATHANAMTHITTA: With the BJP candidature at Pathanamthitta constituency still undecided, speculations spread that senior Congress leader and former Deputy Chairman of Rajyasabha, P.J. Kurien, might emerge as a surprise candidate.

However, P.J. Kurien brushed off all rumours linking him with the BJP. “If I wanted to be a candidate, I would have contested in a Congress seat. The rumours that I will contest as a BJP candidate is humiliating for me. I received even bigger offers during my time as Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha”, Kurien said.

“I’ve maintained good relations with the BJP leaders. That doesn’t mean I’m one of them. It’s improper to spread such things. I would never accept any offers to contest as a BJP candidate. Nobody has yet approached me for that”, Kurien clarified.

Meanwhile, the BJP candidate at Pathanamthitta is still undecided.
