NEW DELHI: The enthusiasm of Congress leaders when heard about Rahul Gandhi contesting from Wayanad Lok Sabha seat was not seen the next day. KPCC chief Mullappally Ramachandran said a final decision has to be taken by Rahul and he cancelled the press meet to be convened today. A final decision on the candidates will be taken by the congress election panel meet to be convened tomorrow. Mullappally will meet the media after this.

Former chief minister Oommen Chandy today said a final decision on the Wayanad seat will be taken by Rahul Gandhi. Party sources hint that a final decision will be taken by Rahul after considering the criticism showered by some from the congress stating that his candidature will give a wrong message.

Meantime, the BJP is shaken on knowing the decision of the congress to field their prime ministerial candidate and create a wave in south India. The BJP is trying to field an even more powerful candidate against him. Presently, allied party BDJS is given the Wayanad seat. If Rahul contests from Wayanad, the BJP is likely to field a strong candidate from the national politics. Discussions are being held in the BJP. The safffon party explained that they will take a decision only after a final decision of Rahul is known.
