NEW DELHI: Congress chief Rahul Gandhi Monday convened a press meet retaining the suspense of whether he will contest in Wayanad or not apart from Amethi. When Rahul convened a press meet soon after the political affairs committee at party headquarters in New Delhi, everyone expected him to announce his candidature in Wayanad. However, he was not ready to utter a work on it and spoke only about the minimum income scheme. When the media raised some questions, he said that he will not reply to anything today and will convene press meets tomorrow and day after tomorrow. He said that he is not like Narendra Modi who escapes from press meets.
Meantime, the political affairs panel convened here today did not discuss about his second constituency. None of the leaders at the meeting voiced such a demand. The election panel meet is likely to discuss this. AICC general secretary K C Venugopal will convene a meet at the party headquarters at 4 pm today. All are looking forward for the announcement of Rahul’s candidacy.
Meantime, Malappuram district congress committee passed a resolution demanding announcement of his candidature in Wayanad. An email has been sent to Rahul Gandhi and all India congress committee voicing the same demand. They requested to announce his candidature as they want to be active in electioneering.
