THRISSUR: College lecturer and writer Deepa Nishanth has come forward with a reply to the revelation of Wakancheery MLA Anil Akkare that once she had told him not to say that she is the daughter of the person the day the congress honoured her father. She asked why I should say that when my father was honoured in a place where I was born and raised. Why should I say that to him? She clarified that by revealing the messenger chat of Akkare.

She said, “I am ashamed to say that he is our MLA. He has stooped so low to shower such a criticism against me. In the five books I’ve written, I've written proudly about my father, as his daughter I still speaks at police conferences. The women’s commission should take a suo moto case against the MLA and probe the issue.”
