THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Those who helped us in protecting the rituals of Sabarimala will be helped in return for their gesture, Pandalam Palace Coordination Committee member Sasikumar Varma has said. "However, we shall not campaign for the BJP. If the centre had intervened by brining in a legislation in connection with women entry in Sabarimala, we would have given an open support," he said.
There were speculations that Varma and the Pandalam Palace would campaign for the BJP. The BJP leadership had requested support from the palace and BJP candidates including K Surendran had sought votes from the palace many times. In between, Varma in an interview to a channel said the royal family would not campaign for the BJP.
Varma said the Pandalam palace would not seek votes for anybody, but will help those who helped us. "Our votes will help to defeat those who were against our faith. We expected legal help from the side of the Central government. However, that never happened. If the centre had helped us, devotees here would have stood with the BJP. But it is not possible to even think about it now," he added.
