KOCHI: Traffic police constable Bharathan sustained sunburn on Thursday. He collapsed and fell on the road while he was inspecting vehicles; he was soon admitted to hospital.
Two persons in Kozhikode Mukkam, and one each in Urangattiri, Idukki high range, Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur got affected. District collectors will evaluate the situation in their respective districts. In districts other than Idukki and Wayanad, the temperature may reach between 35 and 41 degree Celsius, according to reports.
Since there is no cover of cloud, sun heat will directly fall on the earth. As the presence of ultraviolet rays is more in the atmosphere, the chances for sunstrokes are more.
The health department has given strict instruction to avoid direct contact with sunlight between 11 am and 3 pm. People should take lot of water to avoid dehydration.
Action committees have also been formed to face drought and contagious diseases. Control rooms housed in collectorates are observing the situation in districts.
Meanwhile, the Met informs that the intense heat in Kerala will continue for one more week. Today itself eight persons sustained sunburns in the State.
