THIRUVANANTHAPURAM/NEW DELHI: Rahul Gandhi’s candidature which created an initial hype has now created unrest due to the delay in the announcement. The party election panel meeting yesterday on Thursday couldn’t reach a decision.
Rahul Gandhi is yet to speak about a second constituency other than Amethi. There are no assurances regarding his candidature at Wayanad. This has forced the Kerala leaders to take a step back from their stand. Oommen Chandy’s comments that he never said about Rahul’s candidature at Wayanad could be seen as a pointer.
The leaders of KPCC have informed the High Command to announce the candidate at Wayanad if Rahul Gandhi is not contesting.
The UDF allied parties have also expressed their discontent over the situation. The candidate announcement at Vadakara has also irked the party members and allies.
The UDF have started steps to avoid negativities that could affect the front in case Rahul is not contesting. The gloominess in activists could be overcome by aggressive campaigning.
