KOLLAM: It has been found that the girl kidnapped from Oachira was sexually abused. She was sexually abused by the accused identified as Muhammed Roshan in Mumbai. A case has been registered against the accused for sexual harassment. A medical examination conducted at the Karunagapally taluk hospital confirmed the harassment. The girl is now under the protection of the child welfare committee. However, the girl told the police that she was not kidnapped and that she went on her own. The girl mentioned this in the presence of the representatives of child welfare committee and district child care unit when she was produced at the Oachira police station after reaching from Mumbai.

The Rajasthani girl and the main accused Muhammed Roshan were traced in Panavel in Mumbai days back. They were first produced in the court there and later brought here. Roshan said that he had not abducted the girl and that they were in a relationship. He said the girl is 18-years-old. The girl was kidnapped from her house on March 18 after assaulting her parents. Police also said the two were in a relationship. Roshan is the son of a local CPI leader. The Oachira police had earlier arrested three accused in the case.

There is uncertainty in the girl’s age. She told the investigating official yesterday that she studied in Rajasthan till 8th standard and reached Oachira six years back. If this is the case then she must be above 18. However, the girl’s parents said that she is only 13. They produced the TC obtained from the school in Rajasthan after she passed fifth standard. The girl’s date of birth shows 17-9-2001. As per that, the girl has a couple of months to complete eighteen years of age. A case has been registered against Roshan under POCSO. The investigation team will soon go to Rajasthan to get more clarity on her age.
