KOLANCHERRY: Uncertainty continues over the health condition of Thodupuzha native and seven-year-old child, who is under treatment in Kolancherry Medical college after he was brutally assaulted by his mother’s paramour. He is sinking.

The doctors treating him said that there is no more hope for his survival and he is brain dead. However that could be confirmed only if an expert team of doctors examined him.

The child is completely on ventilator support. Over the past 24 hours, there has been no progress is in his condition. He is also not responding to medicines. The blood flow to his brain has stopped. There is grievous injuries on stomach, heart and other 20 parts on his body.

“There are no bone fractures but there is air leak in his lungs and stomach, which might have happed from deep fall or severe assault,”Kolancherry Medical College Neurosurgery head Dr G Sreekumar said.

“No progress was also seen in the scanning report taken yesterday evening. He is not able to move his limbs or breathe on his own and the next 12 hours are decisive,” the doctor added.

The child was admitted to a private hospital in Thodupuzha with serious skull fracture on Thursday morning. He was later shifted to Kolancherry Medical College by his mother and lover Arun Anand.

Within 15 hours he was subjected to open skull surgery. The case was reported to Puthenkurishu police after the mother and lover started giving contradictory statements to the hospital authorities. Police later arrested him after a through interrogation. He will produced before the magistrate today.
