IDUKKI: The seven-year-old under treatment in Kolancherry Medical College getting brutally assaulted by his mother’s partner was also a victim of unnatural sexual abuse, said the police. The police have subsequently charged another case under POCSO act against the culprit Arun Anand. He was earlier charged with attempt to murder and violation of child rights. The doctors at the Kolanchery Medical College handed over the information to the police that the child’s sexual organ was damaged. On interrogation, the culprit also confessed to doing unnatural sexual acts and being a drug addict. However, the mother of the child didn’t reveal any such things on interrogation. On repeated questioning, however, she gave a statement which was positive for the prosecution. The woman will be presented before the magistrate for recording secret statement.

The culprit was taken to the rented house where the offense took place. The police found it difficult to manage the crowd who were angered by the culprit’s presence. The police were able to collect several weapons and proofs from the place. Arun has been remanded by Judicial First Class Magistrate.

Meanwhile, suspicions grew among the locals regarding the death of the woman’s first spouse. The police chief has assured to investigate on this if the relatives have any complaint. The child is on ventilator support as treatment is carried out on the direction of a team of expert doctors from Kottayam Medical College who reached out to Kolancheri Hospital. The doctors dismissed news that the child is brain dead. However, almost 90 percent of the blood flow to his brain has stopped. There is grievous injuries on stomach, heart and other 20 parts on his body. The impact to the skull is the main reason for the critical situation.

“There are no bone fractures but there is an air leak in his lungs and stomach, which might have happed from deep fall or severe assault, ”Kolancherry Medical College Neurosurgery head Dr. G Sreekumar said.
