THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police said the accused Arun Anand, who tried to kill a seven-year-old- boy for urinating in the bed, a native of Nathancode in the capital city is a notorious gangster. He is known as Cobra among gangsters.
The heinous acts of Arun came to light after his cruelty towards the seven-year-old-boy in Thodupuzha was revealed. There are seven cases including murder cases against him in four police stations in the city. Arun is the third accused in the murder case of Vijaya Raghavan, a native of Jagathy in the capital city. He was killed in 2008 by hitting his head with a beer bottle. There are three criminal cases registered against him in Museum Station, two in Fort police station, and each in Valiyathura and Vizhinjam police stations. He was remanded for cheating a family in Nanthencode in 2007 after threatening them.
Arun is the younger of two sons of a bank employee couple. His brother is a Colonel. His father died while in service and he got that job and worked in a bank in Malappuram for one year. He later quit that job and came to the city and engaged goonda activities. He used to smuggle drugs for money.
Police said that under the influence of alcohol and drugs, he used to assault cruelly women and children. He carries liquor and drugs in his vehicle.
