IDUKKI: A case will be recorded against the woman, mother of the seven-year-old boy brutally assaulted in Thodupuzha. The action is for not informing the authorities about the cruel torture of Arun Anand, the accused. The child protection committee expressed anxiety in handing over the protection of the younger child to the mother.

The husband of the woman, a BTech graduate, died in last May of heart attack. She eloped with Arun, relative of her husband, along with her kids. Though a missing complaint was lodged, she told the court that she wants to live with Arun. They stayed in the capital city for some days and after that reached Thodupuzha, posed as a couple and took a house for rent. Arun has a ten-year-old son from his first wife.

The woman said, “I lied to the doctor saying that my son fell from the bed. I was scared and so I lied. Arun accompanied me to the hospital. Taking into account the protection of me and my children, I was scared to say about his harassment. I did not try to save Arun, I tried to protect my child. I didn’t want anything to happen to my children.”

The children were scared of me. My younger son didn’t even care to come near me. Arun tried to keep away my children from me. As per his advice, I kept a distance. He never allowed me to be with my children.

He used to tell me always that the children should be left alone in the house and only then they will be courageous. Leaving my children alone, I went out with him for dinner on that day. When we came back, Arun found the bed wet. He immediately called my elder son, scolded and assaulted him brutally. He slapped me when I tried to stop him. He was violent. I was scared and couldn’t do anything. My ignorance led to all these, she told reporters.
