THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: DGP Jacob Thomas has confirmed that he will not contest the Lok Sabha polls. The DGP is under suspension now and the government has not accepted his resignation tendered. So, he decided not to contest the polls.
Thomas decided to contest from Chalakudy constituency as the candidate of Twenty 20 Front. Meantime, Kizhakkambalam Twenty 20 has informed that no other candidate will be fielded in the constituency.
This is for the first time in the history of Kerala an IPS official under suspension and that too of DGP rank deciding to contest polls. Thomas is presently the senior most IPS official in the Kerala cadre. He is under suspension from 2017.
Twenty 20 is a political organisation in Kizhakkambalam panchayat. They got more seats in the local polls. In this context, the candidature of Jacob Thomas was a challenge to LDF candidate Innocent.
