KALPETTA: Thushar Vellappally, BDJS chief will be the NDA candidate in Wayanad. This was announced by BJP national chief Amit Shah. Thushar was earlier decided to contest from Thrissur. He had campaigned here for two days.
Thushar was shifted to Wayanad after Congress chief Rahul Gandhi was announced as the congress candidate here. The BJP wanted a strong candidate to face Rahul Gandhi. Paily Vathyat was the BDJS candidate here.
The BJP central leadership wanted a candidate more acceptable if Rahul is fielded here. They had mentioned that if Thushar is not willing to contest, the seat will be given to the BJP.
I proudly announce Shri Thushar Vellappally, President of Bharat Dharma Jana Sena as NDA candidate from Wayanad.
