PALAKKAD: Remya Haridas, the UDF candidate of Alathur is hogging the limelight. A good singer, dancer and social worker-- she is winning the hearts of many through her talents. The only woman Congress candidate hand-picked by the congress chief.
She has only Rs 22,816 in her name. She has deposits of Rs 12,816 in two banks and half gram gold worth Rs 10,000. Remya, the president of Kunnamangalam grama panchayat gets an annual income of Rs 1, 75,200 including salary and allowance. Her mother Radha, an LIC agent gets an annual income of Rs 12,000. Her mother has 16 grams of gold worth Rs 40,000. Her father has 20 cents of land and a house of 1000 square feet.
There are three cases against Remya at Kasaba and Mukkam police stations. Remya did fashion designing course in 2005 after SSLC and pre-primary childhood education course in 2007.
She was accompanied by leaders and hundreds of activists to file her nomination papers. She reached collectorate along with MLA Anil Akkare, leaders V S Vijayaraghavan, K Achuthan, V C Kabeer and many others and filed the nomination papers before collector D Balamurali.
