KOLLAM: A fisherman died after a fishing boat hit an ordinary boat at Thankasseri in Kollam. The dead has been identified as Baiju, a native of Pallithottam. His body is kept at the Kollam district hospital. Federick and Daniel who were with Baiju sustained minor injuries.

The accident happened after the boat from Thankasseri collided with the one which came from Neendakara. Those in the boat said the accident happened due to lack of light early in the morning. The fishing boat struck the boat and in the impact three in the boat fell into the sea.

Police has taken the boat into custody. The police are questioning those in the boat. Marine enforcement team has also reached the place. There is speculation that the boat did not meet safety measures.
