KOTTAYAM: Reiterating its commitment to the policy of equidistance from all political parties in the coming Lok Sabha elections, the NSS is slowly leaning towards the Right Front. In the latest edition of its mouthpiece Service, the NSS was seen leaning towards the UDF after the NDA candidates of Pathanamthitta and Wayanad were announced.
A change was seen after Congress chief Rahul Gandhi’s candidature was announced. The mouth piece said that the BJP, instead of seeking a legal recourse, resorted to protests for preventing women’s entry to the temple whereas the Congress focused on the legal route and organised protests at the same time.
The Nair Society was in the forefront along with Sabarimala Karma Samithi in their protests against women entry in Sabarimala. Nair women came to the fore to take part in the namajapa held. With this, it was campaigned that the NSS’s support is for the BJP.
There were news that the NSS is intervening in selecting the candidate for Pathanamthitta constituency. Finally the BJP central leadership selected K Surendran as the candidate considering his popular support. The NSS was irked at the selection of the candidate not of their choice.
