THRISSUR: She lost her mother at a very young age, father deserted her and she lost her life in the midst of her fight to achieve something in life. A 22-year-old engineering student was Thursday burnt alive inside her house by a youth, a native of Vadakara, who had been allegedly stalking her.

Neethu lost her mother at a very early age. Her father had deserted her. She was their only daughter. She was later brought up by her uncle and grandmother. She lost her life in between her fight to achieve something in life. The accused, Nidheesh (32), is suspected to have gained entry into the house through the backdoor. Reports say that he took the extreme step after she rejected his proposal.

The incident happened this morning at 7.30 am. After a verbal dispute, he stabbed her with a knife and then set her ablaze dousing petrol. The locals handed him over to the police when he tried to flee. Hearing her cries, some neighbours and relatives staying nearby rushed to the house and found the victim on flames in the bathroom. But by the time, she was charred to death.

A similar incident happened in Thiruvalla days before. A jilted lover had burnt to death a college student in Thiruvalla. The girl who was seriously injured succumbed to it on March 20. The accused is remanded in Mavelikkara sub jail.
