THRISSUR: Nidheesh (27), the culprit of Chiyyaram murder, was remanded to six days in prison by Thrissur Chief Judicial Magistrate court. Nidheesh’s relatives and friends were present at the court but didn’t speak anything. According to Nidheesh’s statement, he had murdered his lover Neethu (22), an engineering student after finding out that she had a romantic relationship with another person.
According to the police, Nidheesh had suspicions that Neethu is getting away from their relationship. They had quarrels over Neethu’s loyalty in the relationship. Nidheesh asked Neethu to be open with her stand. He had decided to murder Neethu and commit suicide if she agrees on having a relationship with another person. For this, he had bought a knife via the online market, a bottle of petrol and poison.
Neethu had asked Nidheesh to come over to her house at 8 p.m. on the previous day of the murder. However, he couldn’t make it. When he came to her house early morning, she opened the door and they talked for some time. In this conversation, Neethu promised Nidheesh that she is not having any other relationship, which made him happy. Nidheesh was about to leave the house at 6.30 a.m. when he saw Neethu’s grandmother. He went back into Neethu’s room. Neethu was in the bathroom at the time.
Nidheesh saw Neethu’s mobile and checked it. He was enraged on seeing her chats with another person. He waited a stabbed Neethu several times as she passed out. Nidheesh burned her and was later caught by the locals who came rushing on hearing the noise, police sources say.
Neethu’s body was cremated yesterday morning.
