EDAPPAL: The CPM has given a clean chit to the leader who brutally assaulted a ten-year-old girl for trespassing into his compound and picking rags. She was assaulted in front of her mother. CPM area committee member and panchayat president C Raghavan assaulted the girl brutally after she collected rags from his land.

The girl came with her mother and another lady to pick the scrap materials. Raghavan grabbed the sack which she had in her hand and beat her with that. The police said she sustained injuries on her forehead after he hit with the sack containing an iron pipe. The CPM Malappuram district leadership said that a probe conducted by the party found that she sustained injuries in a fall. So the party will not take any action against him.
