KOLLAM: Policemen, who were beaten up by DYFI men including a local leader, were caught napping on Monday when they received transfer orders.

The transferred police men are Mobile Control room unit civil police officers M S Hareesh and S Sujith. They were severely beaten by the party men. It is also alleged that they were denied emergency medical allowance from Welfare Fund.

Hareesh has been transferred to Puthoor and Sujith to Karunagapally. Four DYFI workers, who were remanded in the case, are still continuing in the organisation.

It is alleged that the policemen were transferred as they were not ready to settle the case with the DYFI men. When policemen on duty get injured, they are granted Rs 5000 as emergency aid from the Welfare fund. Even a month after the incident, they have reportedly not got even a single rupee.
