MALAPPURAM: Three children including two sisters drowned in two separate incidents. Fathima Fida (14) and Fathima Nida (12), children of Aboobacker of Aanakayam Oooramudakku, drowned in the Kadalundipuzha while they were bathing. The two had gone with their mother Sauda to bathe in the river.

Fathima Nida drowned first and Fida met with the accident while trying to save her sister. Though they were taken to the hospital by the locals, their lives could not be saved.

Fourth-standard student Aayaz (9) drowned while bathing at the Vengad quarry in Valancherry. A native of Alappuzha, Aayaz came here for the vacation. After completing the proceedings, the body will be taken to his native place.

Ayaz was the son of Arattupuzha Karipadanna native Sharafudddhin. They drowned on Monday morning around 11 in the river point near the check dam near Anakkayam Bridge.
The sisters had reached their mother’s house at Anakkayam. They went to bath along with their mother Souda near the Ghat near Vadirahma mosque.
Fathima Nida first fell into the river accidentally. Fida drowned when she went to rescue her sister.
Hearing their cries, a few youths who came that way jumped in the water, took out the sisters and rushed them to Manjerry Medical College hospital but their life could not be saved. After inquest and post-mortem, the bodies were handed over to their relatives.
Faiz is their only brother.

Ayaz met with the tragedy when he and his friends went to bath at the water spot in a defunct quarry. The incident happened on Monday morning. The body was fished out by Fire Force and locals and taken to Malapparambu MES medical college hospital but his life could also not be saved. Shena is his mother and brothers are Yaseen and Anafrin.
