KOTTAYAM: At a press conference on Monday, CPM State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan sought the cancellation of Suresh Gopi MP’s Lok Sabha candidature, citing that he had campaigned for votes in the name of religion.
“The BJP’s tactic is to create sentiments in the name of religion, God and garner votes. The collector’s action in this case is right and the Election Commission should not remain mute at these moments,” he said.
Kodiyeri said that UDF candidate M K Raghavan’s argument that the people’s court should decide on the sting operation against him is childish.
Not only Raghavan, BJP MPs are also caught in sting operations. In this case, the Congress is having double standards. “Why didn’t Raghavan show the door to people who offered him Rs 5 crore?,” he asked.
