THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: AICC appointed a special observer for Thiruvananthapuram constituency based on the complaint of UDF candidate Shashi Tharoor on the chances of bogus votes. He also mentioned that party activists are not cooperating in the campaign. The AICC entrusted senior congress leader Nanaa Pattola to observe campaigning in the constituency. Party sources said apart from Pattola, KPCC chief Mullappally Ramachandran and opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala will be active in the campaign. The congress national leadership asserted that strong action will be taken against leaders and activists if a decrease is seen in the votes of the congress candidate where a strong triangular race is witnessed.
Those owing allegiance to Tharoor asserted that senior leaders are not campaigning for him in the capital city. There is no official confirmation on the complaint lodged to the high command. When such allegations still exist, DCC secretary voiced the allegation via Facebook.
The DCC secretary alleged that senior leaders are not cooperating in electioneering. Sources close to Tharoor said that a section in the party is trying to defeat him. V S Sivakumar, chief of the campaign committee of Tharoor, lodged a complaint to state police chief that fake campaigns are being carried in his name. However, congress leaders including DCC president said there are no issues in the party and Tharoor will win with a thumping majority.
The high command will intervene on the complaint pointing flaws in the campaign of UDF candidate in Palakkad.
