THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Shashi Tharoor, the UDF candidate of Thiruvananthapuram, sought a probe on the accident which happened while performing thulabharam ritual at a temple. This is for the first time the hook of the weighing scale coming off, said the leader. My mother too has the same opinion. It is good to know all things. It should not happen to any other person. A detailed probe should be conducted, he said. The leader who was hospitalised after sustaining injuries on his head, was discharged today. Tharoor will partake in the meet attended by Rahul Gandhi in the capital city today.

Tharoor sustained injuries on his head, which required six stitches, also suffered a minor leg injury also. He was soon taken to the hospital by V S Sivakumar MLA, M Vincent MLA, DCC president Neyyatinkara Sanal and many other congress leaders.

After he was examined by doctors of neuro department, he was shifted to the neuro surgery ICU for observation. He was discharged after a detailed examination, said hospital superintendent Dr Sharmad. His yesterday’s programmes were cancelled soon after the incident. Even if he attends Rahul’s programme today, he has no permission to speak.

Meantime, a complaint has been lodged alleging mystery in the incident. The complaint lodged has asked to probe on those present in the temple before and after the incident. The Thampanoor police has started an investigation on the complaint. Though the CCTV clippings were examined as part of the probe, nothing unnatural was, he said.
