THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The ambulance carrying a 15-day-old-baby suffering from heart ailments reaches Amrita Hospital in Ernakulam. The government will bear the expenses of the baby taken from a private hospital in Mangalore.

It was earlier decided to bring the baby to Sree Chitra Medical Centre. Sources close to the government said the full expenses of the treatment will be borne by the government after including in the Hridayam Scheme. It was earlier decided to bring the baby to Thiruvananthapuram but as bringing to the capital city will be delayed, was taken to Amrita Hospital in Ernakulam. Dr Brijesh and Dr Krishna Kumar will treat the child in Amrita.

The ambulance carrying the baby girl left the hospital at 11.15 am Tuesday morning. The baby in the ambulance is that of Saniya and Mithah. As the drive is of 620 kilometers, they expected to reach in 12 hours, but due to traffic block, the journey was delayed.

Health Minister K K Shylaja intervened and decided to shift the baby to Amrita. All arrangements were made by the government to take the baby to Amrita
