NEW DELHI: BJP chief Amit Shah clarified that he will not offer an apology for his Pakistan mention on Wayanad. He said they may lose some seats in Uttar Pradesh but will solve that loss from other states. He said this in an interview to a private channel. The BJP will get 60 seats from the places which they lost last time and gain five seats in Kerala, he added.
Shah said the devotees who faced violence in Sabarimala would be voiced and there is a ban only in seeking votes in the name of Sabarimala. He asked whether Pinarayi Vijayan will implement all Supreme Court verdicts and also the verdict banning the use of loud speaker in churches.
Shah had chided Congress president Raul Gandhi for selecting his second seat in Wayanad saying when a procession is taken out there, it is difficult to make out whether it is India or Pakistan. He referred to IUML’s green flags during Rahul Gandhi’s road show in Wayanad after filing his papers. Meantime, the Muslim League lodged a complaint to the election commission on Shah’s statement.
League national secretary Khorrum Anis Omer pointed that the statement is a violation of the code of conduct. The statement is being used to polarize votes of a particular community and to spread hatred between Hindus and Muslims, said the petition submitted by Omer. The statement is like insulting the people of Wayanad. Shah is trying to mislead after connecting the flag of League to Pakistan flag. The League has no connection with the flag of Pakistan. He is trying to create animosity between different religions, mentioned the complaint.
