KOTTAYAM: Two youths, who were arrested for robbing a merchant after throwing chilli powder into his face, have been found to be accused in more cases.
Omallur native Jijomon Joji (18) and Karimbanakuzhi native Bipin (24) were arrested by a team led by SP G Jayadev and social branch DySP R Jose.

The police said the duo often attacked merchants. The gang got arrested after they attacked one Manilal, who was running a bund shop opposite head post office in Pathanamthitta.
As Manilal was about to shut his shop and leave for home, the robbers attacked him. They threw chilli powder into his face, beat him up and made away with Rs 8000 he was carrying in his bag. The investigation was done based on Manilal’s complaint.
Almost around this time the police came to know that a labourer near Omallur was also robbed by a two-member gang in a similar manner. His mobile was also stolen. The accused were trapped by tracing the mobile phone location.
