THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With only two days left for the election campaign to end in Kerala, the three major fronts in the state have geared up for high decibel campaigns. Sabarimala has once again become a focal point as PM Narendra Modi’s speech at Thiruvananthapuram further clarified it.
CM Pinarayi Vijayan responded harshly towards the PM’s remarks. He said that Kerala won’t support those who cause chaos in the name of religion, though the BJP permits it in the states under their administration. He also challenged Modi to point out one case where a person is arrested for uttering God’s name. UDF alleges that the LDF presented BJP with a chance to ignite communal politics.
While the UDF and the LDF are hopeful of turning Sabarimala issue into votes, the LDF is following an alternative route by making people aware of the situation that resulted in implementing the SC verdict.
BJP and other right wings groups resorted to protests after the SC verdict on September 28 when the state govt was willing to implement the verdict. The Congress, even after repeatedly say about faith protection, wanted mild natured protests. When the NSS opposed, the LDF govt tried to band the backward community. Renaissance protection and women wall were formed as a result.
