MALAPPURAM: A case need not be taken against LDF convenor A Vijayaraghavan on the complaint of Ramya Haridas, the UDF candidate of Alathur, for insulting her at a public venue. A decision was taken by state police chief Lokanath Behera after seeking legal advice on the complaint. Vijayaraghavan disparaged her in a manner that outraged her modesty as a woman after she met P K Kunhalikutty during election campaign. The complaint given to Alathur DySP was handed over to Tirur DySP for investigation. The chief electoral officer had warned Vijayaraghavan on the compliant given to the election commission.

Meantime, the UDF leaders said this cannot be accepted and will move forward with legal steps. Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala said a wrong action was seen from the side of the police. On what grounds it was asserted that a case need not be taken against him. A complaint will be lodged to the election commission again. The ruling front is targeting M K Raghavan for political gains. Ramya has got the full support of the party, he said.
