THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The ‘Kallada’ bus incident where the employees of the bus thrashed the passengers has created an outburst on social media. As the footage of the incident got public, University College professor Maya Madhavan came out on social media detailing her horrible experience.
Facebook post:
It was a horrific experience. I was waiting with my daughter at Kallada’s office in a rural place for a bus which was supposed to reach by 11 p.m. However as the bus got delayed, they asked us to sit at their office assuring that the bus will reach by 12. The staff closed the office by 1 a.m. and left us at a bus stop. There were two to three men alongside us.
We got frightened in the dark at this strange place. For urinating I had to use the cover of parked lorry nearby. I don’t have to specially mention how horrible such an experience would be during the menstruation period. There was a manager of Kallada nearby. I repeatedly asked to open the office doors for us, but he refused it every time and said that the bus will be there soon. At last the bus came at around 5 in the morning.
The bus employees were least interested to let us in. They were hush hushing that their duty time is over. They started venting that anger on the passengers. If asked for a pit stop, they’ll abuse verbally. A senior citizen asked to stop the bus near a restaurant, as he had to eat food at the right time. The employees behaved like goons and stopped the vehicle by the side.
The bus that was supposed to reach Thiruvananthapuram by 7 in the morning was stopped somewhere around noon. We didn’t have any food for 13 hours.
They started the bus after we said sorry and begged them. The bus that was supposed to reach the destination at 6 a.m. reached by 6 p.m. Many people advised us to approach the consumer court, but at that time we didn’t want any trouble. But now I extend my full support for any fight against Kallada.
