KANNUR: UDF candidate K Surendran alleged that there was bogus voting in Kannur constituency. The situation is such that will have to use the slogan ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’ to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan who could not prevent bogus voting in his own constituency. Bogus voting happened with the support of officials and it happened in booths including that of the chief minister.

Sudhakaran said there were widespread violence in the district. However, that could not scare our voters. If the chief minister is not able to protect democracy in his own booth then who is ‘chor’, then will have to use the slogan ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’.

The offices of the congress party were attacked in many places. Some powder was thrown at the body of a booth agent. Almost 30 booth agents were chased away. They created an atmosphere of terror in front of some houses. Many activists sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment in hospitals. The details of the violent incidents are being collected. Legal steps will be taken against bogus voting and violent incidents, he said.
