THRISSUR: Two youths were hacked to death in Thrissur on wee hours of Wednesday. The dead has been identified as Shyam and Christi.
Initial reports say enmity between goons is behind the murder. Police are examining whether any drug mafia has any role in the incident. The bodies of the two have been shifted to the mortuary of Thrissur Medical College.
Their friends Prasad and Rajesh are under treatment for their injuries. Rajesh is serious.
The police said that the injured and killed persons are accused in several ganja cases. Goon rivalry among drug mafias is said to be the reason for the murder.
The incident happened at 12:45 am on Wednesday near Mundoor Panjamoola in Thrissur.
Police version: Rajesh, Prasad, Christo and Shyam were travelling to some place. The six member gang who arrived in a pick-up van first hit the bike on which Christo and Shyam were travelling. After knocking them down, they hacked the duo.
Seeing this Prasad and Rajesh tried to flee on their bikes but the gang followed them and knocked them down near Kurisu Palli and sped away in their lorry.
Police reached the place and admitted Rajesh and Prasad in Medical College. It was then that they came to know about hacking incident. They went there and rushed Christo and Shyam to Medical College hospital but their life could not be saved.
Police have got the visuals of attack on Prasad and Rajesh from the CCTV visuals. The victims gave the statement that the attackers were six in number and led by Diamond Sijo, Abhilash and Prince. The sword used for hacking was also recovered from the place.
