THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There is a strong speculation that BJP state chief P S Sreedharan Pillai would be removed from the post. The central leadership will consider it after the completion of the Lok Sabha polls. The last phase of polls will be held on May 19 and results will be announced on May 23. It has been stated that a decision will be taken after that. However, the party leadership has not confirmed it. Meantime, if BJP opens an account in in Kerala, then he will be safe. The central leadership appointed him as the chief in last July. Pillai was made chief after Kummanam Rajashekaran the then chief was made Mizoram Governor. Pillai was appointed as temporary chief.
He stroked a controversy for statements on Sabarimala issue and for his speech during election time. The central leadership expressed displeasure on it. A section of activists had voiced his removal from the post. Some remarks of Pillai during the time of selecting candidates had also sparked a controversy. All these are stated for his removal. Meantime, the party is expecting a win in some constituencies including Thiruvananthapuram. If won, it would be a victory of the state chief and then the central leadership will have confidence in him.
