THRISSUR: The arrest of five accused might be registered on Friday in relation to the case where two youths were hacked to death by a gang of ganja peddlers on a public road at Mundur. Amongst the three culprits in police custody, one is a son of former Cherppu Panchayat President. The other two is in police custody at Tamil Nadu border.
The culprits keep a close relation with ganja mafias in Tamil Nadu, says police sources. Two were taken in police custody in the day of the incident. There are several cases against the culprits at many police stations. Their parents were called to the stations in many instances but they stated that the youth are not under their control. The police suspect the hand of former Panchayat President, mother of one culprit, in helping the felons escape. If found guilty, she will be included as a felon.
A team of police led by Guruvayur ACP Biju Raj is investigating the case. The pick-up van used by the felons has been found and seized by the police.
