Though KSRTC is like a sinking ship, there is no let-up in the hooliganism and ego of some staff in the KSRTC.
This is evidenced by a recent experience recounted by a passenger.
Though the conductor had ring the bell for stopping the bus at a stop, the driver did’t mind it. When this was questioned by some passengers, the driver hurled abuse at them and even made an attempt to manhandle them.
He was heard shouting that “no one will dare to touch me.” He was not ready to heed to the conductor’s instruction or open the automatic door.
When the empanelled workers are fighting tooth and nail to retain their job in the wake of the high court order to retrench them, the highhandedness of one among them will have a negative effect on the whole of workers.
This humiliating incident on the part of KSRTC took place even when the whole of Kerala is discussing the misbehaviour of a few staff of a private luxury bus.
The Transport Minister himself should interfere to ensure that incidents like the one happened in Ettumanoor-Angamaly bus don’t happen again.
“Whether it is permanent staff or the empanelled staff, those who manhandle the passengers should be sacked. Only then will it be a lesson for others. Any compromise in this will be a challenge thrown to the people.
