THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala-Karnataka state government has reached an agreement to start more transport services between the cities in Kerala to Bengaluru and Mysore. Both RTCs will start an equal number of bus services. The decision was taken in a meeting presided by transport principal secretary K.R. Jyothilal.

After the Kallada bus incident, the MVD has started taking strict actions against private buses. The private buses organizations have threatened to stop services if this doesn’t come to an end. The RTC has to come up with more services to overcome this. The decision regarding this has not been clarified yet. The officers inside the RTC that maintains a relationship with the private bus lobby might sabotage the steps to start more interstate services. 7 out of 17 SCANIA buses of KSRTC is under maintenance. The reason behind the failure of some of these buses is suspicious.

RTC has rented ten SCANIAs from a Mumbai based company. On any mechanical failures, the company has to provide another bus, as per the agreement. However, the company never seem to replace such buses and the officers inside the RTC never care to demand it. Passengers tend to choose private services if this is a regular occurrence.
