NEW DELHI: In the wake of Kallada bus travel incident in which two travellers were roughed up by bus staff, Kerala is likely to get a new train that will go to Bengaluru.
The information from the Railways says that it has been decided to allot one more weekly train from Kerala to Bengaluru.
What opened the doors for this opportunity was the meeting between Kerala Transport department Secretary K R Jyothilal and Central Railway Board Member Gireesh Pillai.
Though Kerala had made persistent demand for more daily trains to Bengaluru, this was never accepted. But Jyothilal has confirmed the allotment of a new train in the wake of recent developments.
But there will not be any official declaration on the matter as the model code of conduct continue to exist.
Delhi Railway board has asked the Southern Railways to give a report after examining the time schedule and option for weekly service.
Delhi office wish to run B’lore train from Kerala on Sundays. Currently, there are five Kerala-B’lore trains.
