SULTHAN BATHERY: Two people died in a blast at Naikatty in Wayanad on Friday. The deceased are identified as Amla Nasar (36) and Benny (48). Prima facie, it is believed to be a suicide, say the cops. The blast happened in Amla's house. Benny (48) was her neighbor. The incident happened when Amla's husband was in the mosque. Her five year old younger daughter were only at home. Other children were not at home. Benny came to the house, held Amla close to him and “detonated the explosive”. The child is safe though the scattered body parts and blood fell on the child’s body.

The incident happened at the veranda of the house at 1.10 pm. The two were found dead when the locals rushed to the house hearing the sound of the blast. The body parts were found scattered.


Amla’s is working in an Akshaya Centre. Abdul Nazar is also a worker in the same centre. The couple also have children namely Afroosa and Afreena.


Reena is Benny’s wife. Alan, Ayona are their children. Benny had a furniture shop.

Meanwhile, Abdul Nazar’s younger daughter said ‘Appa’ had come home and bursted crackers.
On Friday evening Benny reportedly told Abdul that he was in some problem and it is difficult for him to live. Abdul consoled him and sent him back, advising him that there was no problem that couldn’t be resolved and he would talk about it after returning from mosque.
