THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The deep depression over southeast Bay of Bengal has intensified into a cyclonic storm, named 'Fani,' the Regional Meteorological Centre said Saturday. The disaster management authority has warned about heavy falls and wind. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast light to moderate rainfall at many places with heavy falls at isolated places as very likely over Kerala on April 29 and 30 with wind speeds reaching up to 60km/hr.

On 30th of April, Yellow alert has been declared in Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad.

The RMC has advised against going to hilly areas and beaches. Due to landslides, avoid travel to hilly regions between 7 pm and 7 am.
